Biography

F or years Hessam Abrishami's dynamic compositions, powerful expressions, and vibrant colors have captured viewers around the world with their amazing depth and unique intrigue. He has exhibited the ability to fascinate and disarm an audience with his artistic works. Hessam's amazing imageries have been lifted off the canvas and portrayed in a three dimensional form through his stunning sculptures. This expansion has added a new dimension to Hessam's growing artistic repertoire.

B y the age of fifteen Hessam's love and obsession with art became evident while still in high school. His art teacher, who encouraged Hessam to pursue a higher education, nurtured his natural talents and endless inspiration for painting. In 1975, Hessam moved to Perugia, Italy, to complete his Master of Fine Art Degree at the Accademia Di Belle Arti, “Pietro Vanucci”. The bright colors of Italy and the contrast of a quiet and relaxed artistic atmosphere greatly influenced Hessam and his works.

H essam's works are greatly influenced by his dramatic life experiences and the warm acceptance he has received from the world at large. He has exhibited his art in Europe, Asia, and North America, where his one-man shows have grown in popularity in the public eye. His talented works have also been colorfully illustrated in various Ivy League University textbooks nationwide. The French press has called Hessam's artwork "A statement in the fluidity of human figures…with tension between each figure, a kinship that provokes the viewer to seek reasons for such a relationship.”

H essam has provided the world with images that capture an essence of love and romance. Hessam now reveals a more three dimensional representation of his paintings in his life like bronze sculptures.

1951 Born In Shiraz, Iran.
1967 Encouraged to study painting and drawing by his teacher Moezzi.
1970 Wins first place in Iran's National Painting Competition.
1971 Receives B.A. in architecture from the Namazi Institution of Arts, Shiraz.
1975 Leaves Iran to study at the Accademia di Bella Arti Pietro Vanucci in Italy.
1979 Graduates with a Masters of Fine Art from Accademia di Bella Arti Pietro Vanucci.
1979 His first exhibition in the City Gallery of Perugia, Italy.

1980 Returns to Iran.
1980 His son Kaveh is born.
1980 Participates in a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Arts, Tehran.
1981 One-Man Exhibitions at Derissi Gallery and Suratkadph Gallery in Shiraz.
1982 Publication of a book of his drawings titled "Screams".
1983 Returns to Italy.
1984 One-Man Exhibitions at the City Galleries of Julia Nova and Noretto, Italy.
1984 Immigrates to the United States.

1985 One-Man Exhibition at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
